Geoffrey Peal, Psy.D. is a licensed psychologist specializing in the assessment and treatment of children, including birth-to-five, school-aged, and adolescents. Dr. Peal integrates cognitive-behavioral, attachment, and interpersonal-based interventions to help children and adults experiencing depression, anxiety, anger issues, peer problems, and difficulties with interpersonal problem solving. He works with the child and other family members to provide comprehensive treatment that allows for the best chance of success for the client and family.
Dr. Peal’s training included a year of specialized supervision with the birth-to-five population. Dr. Peal educates parents about how their childhood experiences may affect their perceptions and reactions while parenting. After a year of specialized training in social skills groups for the school-aged population,he led group programs for 1-3 year olds, school aged, pre-adolescents, and adolescents. Dr. Peal also trained at the University of Miami Autism-Spectrum Assessment Clinic,assessing children and adults for Autism-Spectrum Disorders. He also worked extensively with clients diagnosed with anxiety disorders at the University of Miami Anxiety Research and Treatment Center, utilizing cognitive-behavioral techniques to help clients overcome anxiety, panic, and obsessive-compulsive symptoms.
