In addition to these general areas of expertise, Ms. Henson has specialized training in PTSD/trauma and eating disorders. Her welcoming and engaging style fosters high levels of trust among her clients, which in turn allows them to work through past and current struggles in a healthy, supportive environment. She provides individual and group therapy services.
Since entering the field in 1997, Ms. Henson has experience in a variety of work settings including: a maximum security prison for male felons in North Carolina, a private psychiatric hospital in Clearwater Florida, the University of South Florida Counseling Center; and she managed an outpatient mental health program in Hartford, CT. Most recently Ms. Henson has provided outpatient services for veterans and their families with PTSD through both the James A. Haley and Bay Pines VA. In addition to psychotherapy services, Ms. Henson is a Qualified Supervisor for Registered Mental Health/Social Work Interns and she provides professional training and consultation services for individuals and groups.
Ms. Henson earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Missouri – Columbia, and her Master’s degree from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. Ms. Henson completed a 12-month internship as a team member in the Eating Disorders Treatment Program at the Menninger Clinic in Topeka. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a member of the National Association of Social Workers.
